If you’re the coach of an under 10 soccer team or are the parent of an under 10 soccer player then you’re in luck because right here we have a selection of great U10 soccer drills that have been especially designed with under U10 players in mind. These drills are designed to help U10 players with all of the fundamental soccer skills including shooting, passing, dribbling and more!
To play four corners set up four 5 x 5 yard squares that are about 40 x 40 yards apart on all sides and divide players into two teams with each being given a different color.
Players must then pass the ball among their team trying to keep it in their possession. Their aim is to pass it to one of their team mates whilst they are inside of one of the small 5×5 squares and whenever they successfully do this they score a point. Players can score in any of the four squares but they aren’t allowed to score in the same square twice in a row.
Here’s another good soccer drill for U10 players that helps with timing passes, runs and combination play.
To set up for this drill place 4 cones about 10 yards apart along a sideline and place one player at each of the cones with the player on one of the furthers cones being given a ball. The four players must simultaneously run down the field whilst trying to stay an equal distance apart and as they do so they must make the following passes.
First the player with the ball must then pass to the second player in the line who then passes back to the first player. Then the first player must pass to the third player in the line who then passes back to the second player. Then the second player must pass to the fourth player in the line who then passes back to the third player. Then the third player must pass to the fourth player in the line who then passes back to player two.
As each group of four makes it to the end of the field they should stay there and wait until all the groups have finished. Then once all groups are done they should make their way back across the field in the same way and repeat this process several times over.
3 On 3 Plus 3
This U10 soccer drill teaches players how to keep possession of the ball.
To set up for this drill create a 20 x 20 square on the field using markers and then divide players into three teams of three which each team being given a different color. Two of the teams will be trying to keep possession of the ball and the third team will be playing defense.
The teams who are trying to keep possession of the ball must then pass the ball around among themselves and if the defending team successfully intercepts the ball then the team that loses it must become the defending team. Also if either team plays a ball out of the square then they must replace the defending team.
